Food from Sarawak ^_^

1. Laksa Sarawak

It is way to different than other laksa from other state in Malaysia. As it actually soup contains no curry at all and It is base on "Sambal Belacan" Shrimp, sour tamarind, garlic, galangal, lemon grass and coconut milk, topped with omelette strips, chicken strips, prawns, fresh coriander and optionally lime. Ingredients such as bean sprouts, fried tofu or other seafood are not traditional but are sometimes added. The best laksa Sarawak i ever ate was at Kuching, the shop is known as Xiang-Xiang corner situated at Matang Jaya.

2. The Midin


It is the most famous wild fern of Sarawak. Usually it cook with garlic and sambal belacan "shrimp". For your information Midin contains with vitamin A which is important for eyesight and it high in fibre which helps keep the intestine healthy and prevents constipation. Actually i just knew about it. :P Owh it commonly will be sell at TAMU or market.

3. Sarawak Layered Cake (Kek Lapis Sarawak)


If you walk around the waterfront Kuching bet you will see these cake. Superbly delicious, but can't eat it too much as it too sweet. As what i know the cake were made using butter,vegetable oil, milk and eggs and indeed it requires a strong arm or electric mixer to be properly prepared. The baked cake has a high, firm texture and the layers are fastened together with jam or a similarly sticky sweet substance.

4. UMAI

Sarawak sushi :D. it based on Melanau delicacy. With fresh fish marinate with lemon or lime mix with holland garlic and chilies. Then let in this the freeze for several moment. It is a special food as it using fresh food without even have to cook or fry the fish.

5. MEE KOLOK SARAWAK


hurm!! the Most popular hawker food of Sarawak. Love by every races and generation of Sarawakian. It available in Red, white and ketchup ^_^
